Colorado Ballet
Carmina Burana Invitation and Backstage Pass

Colorado Ballet
has a rich history. One of Colorado's oldest and most accomplished
arts institutions, it is the only organization of its size and stature
to produce classical ballet in Colorado.
Colorado Ballet had its beginnings in a
ballet school founded in 1951 by native Denverites. Today, they
perform many top quality ballets like Carmina Burana, the
Nutcracker and Dracula.
Carmina Burana is a powerful ballet
that tells the story of good versus evil in the world. The invitation
was specially designed to explain the atmosphere and contrasting
emotions portrayed to people who had never experienced it.
Tickets for the Dress Circle Party were
included in the invitation and are one of the highlights of the
year, not only for people invited, but for the dancers and crew
of each show. Two hours prior to the show, everyone meets backstage
to do a hands-on tour of the show by experiencing the sets, the
costumes, and the choreography as demonstrated by the dancers.
These pieces express the passion and strife
in Carmina Burana. The lyrics from the ballet were painstakingly
translated and added to the invitation to give insight to the ballet's
emotions. Color and layout in both printed pieces symbolize the
struggle for power. All of these elements came together to show
those who received the invitations that they were in for one spectacular
evening.
