Bagel Dog Campaign
During the brainstorming
for this campaign, a lot of focus was on what customers were gravitating
to: nostalgia, the good 'ole days, and what "American" means
to them. The Chicago Bagel Dog is Einstein Bros Bagels' version of
the All-American hotdog.
Working on this campaign had important meaning,
considering the historical context of the events in the United States
after the wake of September 11. For that reason, and the tremendous
reaction from consumers, this campaign has special meaning.

After that meeting, I started on sketches,
and the simple lines and copy really struck a cord. It was elementary
in its simplicity, but spoke volumes through the characterization
of the Bagel Dog. The pieces in this campaign included: in-store banners,
newspaper advertising, in-store signage, a gift certificate, and radio.
This campaign created free publicity for Einstein's
in two major markets, San Francisco and Chicago, and increased sales
during a traditionally slow quarter in the restaurant industry.
